FINLAND ~ Helvetinjärvi (Hell's Lake) National Park ~

... First of two great Finnish National Parks... three fourths of the land area of Finland or 22.8 million ha, is covered by forests...  the most impressive attraction is the dramatic Helvetinkolu gorge, a narrow causeway cut through the rock that dates from the ice age...  unlike to what its name might imply this National Park offers peace and fresh forest air... Thanks a lot Nina!!ヽ(ヅ)ノ

Helvetinjärvi National Park  literally "Hell's Lake national park") is a national park in southern Finland and has an area of 49.8 square kilometres (19.2 sq mi).

The park was founded in 1982. The park represents the wild forests of the Tavastia region. The area includes deep gorges and rugged scenery formed by faults running through the bedrock.

The landscape here is dominated by geological features created millions of years ago by mighty movements deep in the Earth's crust.
