MACAU ~ Senado Square - UNESCO ~

... Beautiful view of Macau’s Portuguese, colonial legacy... the most significant public space in Macau and one of its icons... this large square, which is actually triangular in shape, was a social hub as far back as the late 16th century, and now is a meeting place for locals and tourists... with unusual wave-patterned mosaic cobbles in front of the classical Portuguese-style houses in pink and yellow... Thanks Phoebe!! (ô‿ô)

The Senado Square is a paved area in the centre of the former Portuguese colony of Macau, China, enclosed by the buildings of the Leal Senado, the General Post Office, and St. Dominic’s Church.

The square is paved in the traditional Portuguese pavement. Portuguese pavement or Calçada Portuguesa, is the traditional pavement used for most pedestrian areas in Portugal and old Portuguese colonies such as Brazil and Macau.

The Historic Centre was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2005.
