MARTINIQUE ~ Purple-throated Carib Hummingbird ~

... Beautiful hummingbird enjoying nectar from a banana flower... a tiny flying jewel... and a flower I never seen before... my second card ever of one the best Caribbean vacation destinations... a little bit of France in the heart of the Caribbean... and an very popular cruise destination... as being a French overseas region, Martinique uses French stamps... Thanks a lot dear Glenn!!【ツ】Hope you had a wonderful holiday! ☼ ☼ ☼

The Purple-throated Carib is a large, dark hummingbird with a purplish-red throat and breast, greenish-blue tail, emerald-green wings, and a down-curved bill, found only on certain islands in the Lesser Antilles in the eastern Caribbean.

It lives in mountain forests and clearings, is often seen in banana plantations, and occurs occasionally at lower elevations.

Banana flowers are the beginning stage of the banana, also known as "banana blossoms".They are a purple-ish flower, tear shaped and hangs at the end of banana cluster.
